Kayak, Cruise, Walk - Abel Tasman - Child (8-14 years)
Scenic cruise, walk and kayak - 'Beaches and Seals'
Check in time: 8.30am Kaiteriteri
This tour covers the area between Kaiteriteri to the south and Split Apple Rock in the north. It is a relatively small area with lots of interesting nooks and crannies to explore. This makes it an ideal tour for the first timer. The trip starts with a safety briefing, with full instruction to make kayaking as simple as possible – even for first timers.
Tides play a big part in the tour itinerary. As these change with each day then so does our tour. After a break for swimming, relaxing or exploring the beach we set off for Ngaio Island on the homeward journey. Back to Kaiteriteri at 11:45am
After your morning kayaking adventure around the famous Split Apple Rock and return, board the 12:40 Sea Shuttle for a scenic cruise past beautiful beaches, viewing New Zealand Fur Seals and choose either option below:
A: Disembark at Awaroa at 2:00pm and enjoy a 1 hour walk through to Onetahuti Beach. Sea Shuttle pick up time at Onetahuti is 3.20pm returning to Kaiteriteri by 4.30pm
B: Disembark at Anchorage at 1:20pm and enjoy the beach or the 1.5 hour Pitt Head loop track to Te Pukatea Bay. Sea Shuttle pick up time at Anchorage is 3.45pm returning to Kaiteriteri 4.30pm[new-zealand-fur-seal]
The Seals: On this adventure you will visit the famous Split Apple Rock and a New Zealand Fur Seal colony where you’ll get a chance to view the ‘kekeno’ (Maori name for fur seals) in their natural habitat. At some periods of the year you’ll see the baby seal pups playing alongside our vessels.
Our skippers and guides will teach you some wonderful history of the Abel Tasman National Park along the way and answer any questions you may have. We’re a fun bunch and love making sure you get the best from you time with us!
- This hike and paddle adventure is particularly suitable for families and small groups.
- If you are staying in Nelson, we offer a FREE pick up service from your accommodation.
Tour price includes the $16 lunch. Please note in your booking if you would like to do option A or B.
